An Update

I am happy to report that our meeting was held over two weeks ago and all but one of the dissenting members attended. It was cathartic to get those feelings out, even though one of the dissenters said "I do not like all this touchy-feely stuff".

The outcome was that we agreed to disagree and two members so far have officially resigned while others are in contemplation. The irony here is that what the dissenters wanted may ultimately come to pass, just that they could not, then and now, hear that it was in both the method and tactics of the message that caused the schism.
